Welcome to the 2011 / 2012 Kedron Cheerleading Season
Welcome to another great year with Kedron Cheerleading, we hope that everyone had a fantastic summer! If this is your
first year or you are a returning family, it is our goal to make this season a fantastic and fun filled experience for you and
your daughter(s). Below is some crucial information for the season. Please be sure to read this document in its entirety,
there is important information and changes for the upcoming season.
COMMUNICATIONS
As our season gets under way, there are a lot of things to remember. We will do our best to keep you informed of
upcoming events, activities, practices etc. We are encouraging parents to visit the website often as we are planning to
keep it updated. Additionally, emails are the most effective and time efficient way for us to communicate with over 125
families. We understand that emails can be lengthy and frequent, but please make sure to read through them so that
you are aware of what is happening, especially regarding fundraising, practice dates, competitions, uniform fittings,
special events, nationals info, etc. If you do not check your email on a regular basis and need another form of
communication, please contact your head mom immediately.
In addition to emails, text messages will be used for quick reminders and notifications.

PRACTICE UPDATES
Practice Drop Off/Pick Up
In an effort to keep the traffic flow moving in our parking lot, and for the safety of our kids, we are beginning a new drop
off/pick up policy.
ALL CARS MUST ENTER ONLY FROM SYLVAN AVENUE AND ALL CARS MUST DRIVE THROUGH THE PARKING LOT
AND EXIT AT EXIT THROUGH THE BACK ONTO PRESIDENT AVENUE. CARS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO EXIT
BACK ONTO SYLVAN. THE SYLVAN ENTRANCE WILL BE ONE WAY AND AN ENTERANCE ONLY!!
Please do not drop your daughter off until her scheduled practice time. We had several complaints from the Church
about the girls running around the church basement and leaving a mess on the steps and upstairs. Cheerleaders are
only supervised once they are in the gym or after their head mom arrives. Girls are not permitted to sit on the steps
leading up to the chapel. If girls arrive early, they must go to the back common room and wait for their practice to begin.
Also, please make sure cheerleaders are collecting ALL of their belongings. Nothing should be brought to practice that
isn’t needed (iPods, extra clothing, shoes etc.). There are so many lost and left behind items that are forgotten, it is
becoming a cluttered mess.
Finally, please make sure that all jewelry is left at home. Last year the stage was filled with earrings, rings, bracelets,
necklaces that were left behind after each practice. We also had incidents where items were lost after placed on the
stage. We can’t be responsible for keeping track of these personal belongings.
Missed Practices
Missing practice is a difficult topic. It is our number one most passionate and painstaking issue. When you signed your
child up for Kedron Cheerleading you were told this is a long season beginning at the end of August and going through
April. It is a huge commitment from you as parents, the cheerleader, our coaches and volunteer staff. This sport is
unique in that we do not have extra players to fill in if someone is absent. This is what also makes cheerleading so great
because ALL girls participate ALL the time. No one sits out, and every position is valuable, necessary and needed for
safely.
Because of this, cheerleading requires a dedication like no other sport. When one child misses a practice, the entire
team is affected. More so, the cheerleader herself misses out on valuable training, strengthening, repetition and skill
development that is necessary to be a part of her squad. I can tell you from years of experience, that teams that are
able to have full squad practice together every week are those that excel. Teams that do not will struggle. We have a
small window of practice time just twice a week, and we have high expectations for extraordinary and challenging
routines. Please understand and make this commitment with all of us. Together we will be champions.
If your child is sick with fever or vomiting, please keep them home and call your head mom as soon as you can. We ask
that parents only call their team’s head mom. Please do not call a coach or board member unless she or he is your head
mom. If she is not contagious, she needs to attend every practice. If your daughter is injured, she will need a doctor’s
note before resuming practice. A doctors note is also required explaining the restrictions and length of time the child will
have to miss practice. If a child needs to sit out from an injury, a doctor’s note is required for them to not participate.
If a child misses three practices due to an illness, injury or other reason, their spot on the team must be re-evaluated for
the safely and progression of the team. You will be contacted to discuss.
Two unexcused practices (no call/no show) will result in a parent/coach/cheerleading meeting before the child can
participate in practice again. Only a parent or guardian can call a head mom for it to be an acceptable excused
absence. Cheerleaders and friends may NOT call the coach, other cheerleaders or friends and ask them to tell us they
are missing practice. Please do not tell another parent that your child won’t be at practice. This again, is for the safety
and progression of our squads.
Safety
Please make sure that your head mom has a current contact and an emergency phone number for while your daughter
is at practice.
If your child is injured at practice, you will be notified. If your child comes home and says she was injured at practice,
notify your head mom immediately. Cheerleaders must tell their coach if they feel sick or have gotten injured. Proper
safely precautions are taken at every measure and our coaches are all AACCA safety certified.
